Walk Like Jesus

Focus Scripture:  Hebrews 13:1-8  "Keep on loving one another as brothers and sisters. Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by so doing some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it. Continue to remember those in prison as if you were together with them in prison, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering.

Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have,because God has said,

“Never will I leave you;
    never will I forsake you.”

So we say with confidence,

“The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?”

Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

The scriptures tell us that, “Jesus is the same yesterday, and today, and forever”.  No matter how much we change in our thoughts, actions, or words, Jesus will never change.  In today’s world, every day is becoming harder and harder to live a life that demonstrates the example Jesus gave us to live by.  Without God’s help, the sinful nature that we are all born with prevents us from living by the example that Jesus set while He was here on earth.

When we are known by family, friends and the community as a Christian, they watch how we conduct our lives.  Some are looking for us to make a mistake to justify that they are just as good as a person who is a Christian.  Others are watching our lives because they see that we are different, and they are trying to see what makes us different.  Whether we realize it or not, we do not know who is watching how we live our lives as Christians, or who is looking up to us, trying to pattern their lives by ours. We need to strive to be like Jesus and live every day by His example.

I close with this quote from David Jeremiah, “We are responsible, whether we like it or not, to live in such a way that people won’t be disappointed in Jesus because the Jesus they see is the Jesus they see in us.”

PRAYERFather, thank you for sending your son Jesus into this world and for the example He has given us to live by every day.  Help me to live a life in front of everyone I come into contact with today that I will be an example of Jesus’ love so that no one would be disappointed in Jesus because they did not see Him in me.  In Jesus’ precious and holy name I pray.  Amen.
