Scope:               The Youth Director is to honor God and serve the youth and their families by                                     inspiring them to love and serve God.

Supervision:  The Youth Director will be supervised by the Senior Pastor in conjunction                                          with the Personnel Committee.

Qualifications:

  1. Must have a vital ongoing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ with a strong Christian spiritual and moral character.
  2. Be called/led by the Holy Spirit to serve as Director of Youth.
  3. Have a servant attitude and desire to serve the Lord through the local church.
  4. Agree with the doctrinal statements of FBC Swannanoa as outlined in the Baptist Faith and Message 2000.
  5. Demonstrate integrity, which includes maintaining confidential information.
  6. Possess the skills necessary to perform the functions of the job and the capacity to learn additional skills which the job may require.
  7. Some experience in working with youth is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  1. Plan, develop and implement a comprehensive Youth Ministry for grades 6-12.
  2. Develop and maintain an evangelistic spirit and growth mindset for the Youth Ministry.
  3. Develop the spiritual life of youth through planning and supervising activities such as Bible studies, retreats, mission/service projects, and various youth events.
  4. Plan and lead Bible studies that are biblically based and help youth grow in their relationship with Christ.
  5. Lead regular Sunday and Wednesday night activities for youth.
  6. Enlist/involve teachers and other leaders to assist with the youth ministry as needed.
  7. Encourage youth to develop their spiritual gifts and teach them the value of serving in the church by involving them in the life and ministries of the church.
  8. Provide a welcoming atmosphere where visitors are welcome and youth are comfortable sharing, fellowshipping, praying and worshipping.
  9. Make contact with prospects and absentees.
  10. Counsel with youth as required.
  11. Maintain open lines of communication with both youth and parents..
  12. Perform other duties as assigned.
